Power stroke 7.3

You need to get a scan tool that will work with a 7.3 diesel and display live data- AutoEnginuity, Forscan, or one of the other options like a Snap On Solus, Verus, Modis, or Zeus, a Launch or XTool or Autel, something that will display live data - what the ECU is seeing - and not just read and clear codes.

Once you have a scan tool, plug it in to the OBD Data port under the dash, turn the key on, connect the tool to the ECU, and let us know if you see an RPM signal when the engine is being turned by the starter and the key is in the on position.

Do you have any friends who are better with diagnostics and maybe speak English? I can help you fix your issues, but only if you can understand what I am telling you to do.

Wish in one hand and research with the other. See if you have an RPM (revolutions per minute) signal being reported to the ECU (computer) when cranking. Thats the next step to diagnose this issue.

Bonjour, ça redémarre avec le changement des 2 cases. Merci, Felix, ;) j’ai connecté ma CTS3, elle me dit ça ?Où puis-je trouver le code ?:incertain :

That message on the EDGE CTS3 comes up for one of four reasons:
  • PCM has invalid strategy because it has an aftermarket calibration loaded.
    • Enter your VIN and the EDGE CTS3 will work correctly if this is the case.
    • Please note FORSCAN will have this same issue since it determines vehicles the same way as the EDGE CTS3.
    • SNAP-ON Scanners (and others, but my experience is with SNAP-ON) will not have this issue as they allow for manual VIN entry if Auto Entry fails.
  • PCM does not have power and is not sending data on OBD
    • Restore power to PCM and try again
  • PCM is damaged
    • Replace PCM and try again
  • Wiring is damaged between PCM and OBD plug
    • Connect EDGE CTS3 or other monitor directly to OBD Data lines on PCM, bypassing plug under dash. Correct wiring to restore OBD plug function.
If other scan tools connect to the PCM just fine, its the first issue. If no scan tools connect to the PCM, its one of the three later issues.

Let us know which issue it is.

I don't know if I'm late to the party or I was here already.

I think I provided pimpon with a 7.3 no start flow chart previously.
Anything come from that?

Obviously not with a failure to communicate ecu message.

I'm not going to re-read the entire thread, but am I right in assuming it is spiraling out of control, worse and worse? I have been guilty of chasing small issues when there were larger problems I didn't notice.

Is this still the 'ran fine, installed hydra, nothing works' problem?

I've installed many hydras and agree with big-ern, they are a piggyback and dont break things.

Relying upon google translate....

'Where can I find the wine?'

A Most excellent question.

I often wonder the same thing.
Often when I have problems with vehicles I resort to alcohol....

S’appuyer sur google translate....

« Où puis-je trouver le vin ? »

Vincent, the VIN number is the “Vehicle Identification Number”. It is located on the French Vehicle ownership Title you have.
You sent me a picture of it a while back, I just e-mailed you the VIN number from that Title (the 1996 Ford E-350).
***e-mailed it since I didn’t think it a good idea to post the number publicly.

EDGE CTS3 doesnt care what VIN you type in as long as its for same year and same powertrain. Its just needed to load the PIDs to get the data fields. Heck you can get the VIN from an auction site on another vehicle.

But if the EDGE CTS3 is not Identifying the VIN, that's (likely) not the problem. The ECU (likely) isnt communicating through the OBD port.

Vincent do you have any friends that speak English and know electronics and/or automobiles?
