We just cleared out our van and realize we don't have a jack--or do we? Where is it supposed to be in the 1996 Dodge Ram 3500 RB50? And if we have to replace it, what do we need for general use? We have the long handle.

Also. Does anyone know what the plastic box is under the driver's seat? I can't see a way to open it.

A quick Google search shows:

The jack for a Dodge Ram 3500 is located under the front passenger seat. To access the jack, you can:
Pull the front of the plastic cover on the side of the seat toward you to release the locking tab
Slide the front of the cover toward the front of the seat until it's free from the seat frame
Remove the tool assembly from under the seat

Before jacking up the truck, you should remove the spare tire. You can attach the lug wrench to the jack extension tube.

Thanks! I believe you are right. But for the van conversion they put in a captain's chair and there's no jack or bracket for it.

I just found it! It was loose in the far back, hidden behind the heater cabinet so you almost have to crawl into the lower compartment to get it. I should probably make it more accessible, so we don't have to pull all our gear out into the road in an emergency! It was a good chance to check it out and give it a practice run.

You probably already know this, but be sure to look in your manual and see where the jack points are before jacking up the van! Otherwise, you can damage things and it can cost a lot of money to replace the engine cradle!
