Renogy 200aH Batter - Issue ?

Greetings -

My Renogy 200 aH battery - is at 3 1/2 years old - I was having StarCool III issues - so I bought a HD Room AC unit - 11.8 amps start/run - 8100 btu - ran it off of my Energizer 3000 Inverter - for like 6-8 minutes to see if this configuration might/would "work" for a trip out west ? Engine was running/driving thru subdivision - V10 - Chassis AC and StarCool was OFF !

The "system" seemed to work for this "test," although I knew I couldn't run it 24/7. ! PRIOR to this test - my Renogy would "float" charge at 13.2 to 13.4 on shore charge. NOW - the float charge appears to be at 12.4 to 12.6 ?

Any thoughts on what has happened ? Has my "test" crapped out my Renogy !!

What device (charger)are you using to get the battery into "float" The battery doesn't float by itself, that is a stage of the charger.

Using the Surepower/Chargewizard that came with the Fresno build - haven't had time to pull the couch to check the Charge Wizard blinking light - or Surepower under gaucho -
would that home AC unit at 11.8 amps and Energizer 3000 be the culprit ?

So while you were driving with the AC running through your inverter you were using probably 120 + amp of power. I doubt your alternator could keep up with that. So I would expect that you ended some amount of power down after that drive.

So if you stopped, the resting voltage of a charged battery would be around 12.8 -12.9 volts.

We don't know how charged up the battery was before so difficult to determine what it would be.

Do you still have the inverter still on?

Van is back in storage on shore power - inverter is turned off. From my house to storage is about 13 miles - van running - assume correctly being charged off alternator and NO house AC unit being used. The next day - the house batt on shore power over night - read 12.4-6 in float status - I turned van on and revved engine for about 3-5 minutes - "float" or charge status went up to 14.2 - when I turned van off - float slowly dropped back to 12.6 - the next day on over night shore power it still read basically 12.4-.6 --

Scalf77 -- the house battery should have been charged up to 13.1 - .2 prior to pulling out of driveway - and reading 12.4 when home AC first turned on - then dropped to 11.6 -.8 within a few minutes -

I am no expert like Greg, but you might have that battery load tested. It doesn't seem to be taking a charge or your charger charger isn't working properly.

Agree resting voltage of an AGM should be 13-13.2 fully charged.

11 miles isn't enough to charge the battery.

Depending on how deeply you discharged that battery it could have a problem.

Battery has been on shore charge for 2 days now - still reading 12.6 amps/charge - still have to check Charge Wizard under couch for blinking light - as previously stated - battery went to 11.6 for maybe 3-5 minutes - then onto shore power -

If you are on Shore Power for 2 days, with the progressive dynamics charger with charge wizard the voltage should be around 13.2 Volts. This it was in what they call storage mode. You need to check to see if the charger is actually on.

I agree. I think what your seeing as a 'float' charge is just the static battery voltage.

Scalf77 -- Do you mean the Charge Wizard - or deeper electrically - like separator ? Normal shore power/charging would only maintain status at 12.6 ?

The charge wizard has nothing to do with the separator. The charge wizard is an add-on device that makes the progressive dynamics converter act more like a multistage charger.

So if plugged in for two days you should be at 13.2 volts. The fact you are at 12.6 volts makes me think the battery is not being charged.

So - may mean the charge wizard may be bad ? - or what other device might be fried that charges the battery ? Would/Could it be the SurePower ? Do they even make a "Charge Wizard" anymore ? I'll drive the van more this weekend - but would think shore power would have "caught the batt up" by now ? What possible replacement ? Forgive my lack of knowledge -
I'm not well schooled on this subject - obviously !

I wouldn't expect it to Charge Wizard, voltage would probably in the 13.X if it just wasn't working. I would check the AC input path for the charger. Probably a breaker, and a GFIC outlet inline that might be off. any fuses on the output of the charger, etc

Most likely under gaucho couch fuse panel versus under the hood fuse box ? 20 amp fuse most likely ? Appreciate all your input ! Chalk up another beer I owe you !

I would suspect any fusing is on charger, or inline to the battery.

Had similar issue and it was the GFCI tripped so shore power was not charging

the power supply plugs into the GFIC outlet, just need to follow the plug.
