Hi,

New member searching for our first sportsmobile. Ideally looking for rear bench/convertible bed seating an interior potty, pop top and dimensions so that we can fit it in our garage.

We have seen two of these for sale locally but both sold quickly.

Cheers,

Welcome. How tall is the garage? May need a 2wd. If you are ready to buy, suggest a want to buy post in member classified.

Once you find the right van that garage things becomes less of a problem. Just get a bigger garage.

Priorities.....

Also look for Pleasure-Way Traverse or GTRV vans. They have much lower profile pop tops and fit in standard garages more easily.

Thanks - I have 82-84" of clearance at the garage door.

I'll post a want to buy as you suggested. Probably looking at 2WD because of the height issue.

I would be interested to know if anyone has measured the total height of those units. It might be that they are all too tall for the garage.

Most standard 2WD Fords with pop top are too high to fit in a standard garage. I think maybe the Dodge or GM versions sit a bit lower.

Thanks - if fitting in the garage is out of the question then I'll keep looking but prefer one that looks more like a van than an RV. I've seen some like this and I think they would pass for street parking without raising the ire of neighbors and code enforcement.

I also believe most are taller than 7 feet. Some have lowered tire pressure to get in the garage.

As someone else suggested, Traverse or GTRVs have lower roofs and may fit.

I had a Traverse and it fit - just barely- in my regular garage, with the roll up door adjusted to maximum height. They are hard to find though. GTRVs are basically identical.

Garage Fit

I have a 1997 Ford E250 SMB 2wd with a penthouse top and dead stock it didn’t quite fit in a standard garage. I’ve since added solar and alloy wheels with bigger tires so it’s not even close anymore.
Good luck with your search. It took me quite a while to snag mine.
