This week we are going to begin sending out a weekly e-newsletter with links to some interesting forum topics and newsy bits. The newsletter will go out to forum members.

If you find that you aren't interested you can unsubscribe from the newsletter by clicking on the link at the bottom of the issue or by changing your notification preferences on your user profile page under edit options > Messaging & Notification >>Receive Email. Be sure to scroll down and hit save after you make changes.

Here's a direct link: https://www.sportsmobileforum.com/forums/profile.php?do=editoptions

I just received the newsletter e-mail, which I didn't sign up for. I love the forum, but don't love spam e-mail.

For these types of new forum correspondence, I would prefer this to be an opt-in, rather than an opt-out situation.

Thank you for the instructions and quick link to opt-out.

Indeed, should be an opt-in newsletter to comply with the new EU GDPR privacy laws. There are several EU-based members in the forum that would be impacted by this.

It’s not really news at all, it’s just a forum thread link list, along with 3rd party (Amazon) advertisements congratulating you on being chosen to participate in a drawing for a new iPhone......LAME!!!!
Oh ya and one more thing, it’s also posted as Sports Mobile Forum, thought we straightened that one out already

Have to express my disappointment as well...expected something that would be either interesting, educational, and/or possibly clarify some issue brought up in the many Threads.
IMHO i cant see any effort was put into this.

Sure there was, an effort to advertise more to people! I used to occasionally enjoy a TV or radio program on occasion before the world allowed me to mostly cater to my M.O. of NO advertising, or perhaps better said Guerrilla anti-advertising. Then, when occasionally frustrated by the ads I would remember that it's not TV or radio, it's COMMERCIAL TV and COMMERCIAL radio. Without the ads it doesn't exist, but I'll always keep trying.

Sorry Janet.

The newsletter is not helpful at all. A real disappointment and not sure of any real work behind it. I elected to unsubscribe after receiving the first email but I just got another email for issue 2. I unsubscribed yet again, and hope they honor the request to unsubscribe this time.

Well wait a minute, in contrast to those who were disappointed or perturbed I on the other hand was elated to get an email reminding me you all were here! I've been a member since 2012 but rarely think of this as a resource. So I like the reminder and thank you to whoever is responsible. You resurrected an old friend and that's a good thing! I'm sure I could unsubscribe any time since I do that with other newsletters but it's the comradery and culture that sets the tone and if everyone is kind and helpful I'll love to see it in my inbox even if it's not relevant to me personally, some day it could be!

As a regular here on the forum (mostly reading, not posting) I am pretty current on the threads so I find the first 75% of the newsletter uninformative. I was going to suggest making the non-forum content more visible, but after clicking on a few of the articles I found the content too light and the resulting pop-ups to like/share in Facebook too annoying so I have chosen to unsubscribe.

I like it, mostly as a reminder and easy way to check back in. Not a big fan of the non-SMB content but that’s okay. I don’t have to click on it. Thanks!

Instead of offering any opinion of what I might think of the newsletter, I'll just share what my fairly-sharp Gmail spam filter thought of it.....

>> When this thread popped up and everyone started mentioning that they were receiving the newsletter, I actually had to go LOOK for it.....it wasn't in my inbox....yep, the pretty-damn-smart spam filters on my gmail account had already decided it looked like junk mail, and had dutifully dropped it into the spam/junk folder.

I'm a fairly simple man....who am I to argue with the vast collective intelligence of all of of Google? ;)
