Isn't it interesting how some people can be attracted to ugly. To see this in action just watch the "Cops" television show. There's always some ugly guy on there (usually drunk and in his underwear) being arrested saying, "I didn't do nuthin'. Just ask my wife!" And you say, "That ugly guy has a wife!!?" And sure enough, some ugly woman comes out and you see how it all makes sense how that guy could have a wife.

I guess it's the same for the Nissan van.

Mac,

That's one way of looking at it...

Nissan is able to sell Cubes and some other ugly cars as well...Maybe we just don't see it?
They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder..Who knows, there may be someone out there that thinks 92 up Econolines are ugly too..

I know I could not drive something that I thought was ugly every time I walked up to it...
But people did buy Pontiac Aztecs...

Remeber, the bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Wonder how they felt 2 years later when they were still making payments?

Hi All.

This is my first post. And I'm ready to get slammed (and probably excommunicated) by all the purists.

I sold our Sprinter Westfalia and purchased this Nissan six weeks ago - see photo - and up to this point, I'm extremely happy with it. It fits our needs perfectly and so far has performed flawlessly. I'll update my evolving impression as I test the limits of the van.

Let the flogging begin...

WELCOME!

It takes some big cojones to come here and post pics of your Nissan SMB after all the bashing that's already gone on. :r7:

I do think you posted the best angled shot of a Nissan SMB. Doesn't look so bad from that angle. Hey, I don't even own an SMB anymore, so feel free to slam me. It all comes down to what any SMB owner is going to use their rig for, and there are different solutions to everyone's situation. Just be happy that Nissan doesn't offer theirs with a diesel engine, or we'd have a whole 'nother flail going on.

Would actually like to see more pics, especially of the inside.

Welcome, myself I don't think the PH models like yours are that bad looking at all. Any SMB with their top popped are a bit funny looking IMO. Each has their own tastes, mine just happens to be for a lifted 4x4. Actually I'd like to see more pics of your vehicle. The wheels set it off well along with the shinny black paint job.

Wow, sorry we gave you that impression. I know this forum is biased to large, lifted 4X4's but the funny thing is when you get a group of us together none of those things matter. I've bashed the Nissan but that doesn't mean they suck, i'm just another a-hole with an opinion.

I remember how many of my friends hated the last Dodge Ram update (early 90's?) with the "funky fenders" and "hideous hood".

Now they all drive them and think SD Fords are ugly.

This too shall pass...

I still haven't gotten (fully) used to the front end of the newest Ford SDs. I did figure out what really bugged me on the Ford front end (08+ or whenever it was). The turn signals are above the headlights. It always looks like they put the front light assemblies on upside down. In later years Ford made it far less noticeable because the put clear lenses on both.

Welcome Warehouse! Great to have a Nissan owner on board. I too would like to see more pictures, particularly of the inside. I also would like to see a picture with someone standing next to the van. I'd also like to see people inside the van. I'm having a hard time getting a perspective of this thing. I agree that the low top looks better than the high top. That high top is the Snoopy-head looking thing. Your rig doesn't look bad.

Hopefully you can bring your rig to a SMB meet and greet so we can meet you and see your rig. Maybe I need to coordinate another get together. We had 28 rigs at the last one.

Welcome Warehouse!

Glad to see you post up here. Being part of the 4wd crowd, I actually think the Nissan could look pretty good (now I'll get flogged) with a quality 4wd system under it and some bolt on goodies (bumpers, etc.). A couple things I like about the Nissan platform are that 1) it has a hood that actually provides access the engine and 2) reliability should be better than Ford so you don't need to access the engine as often.

Along with the others here, would like to see some more photos.

Yes, interested in more Nissan SB Impressions. Roadtrek is doing a nearly identical conversion on the N6 for about the same price. I recently sold my '04 4x4 SB and had a '97 Eurovan before that. Currently vanless, I'm looking for something in the middle. There is also a company in Oregon called Outsidevan.com that claims to be able to mod any van you give them.

Hi;

I had the chance to park my daily ride (96 RB Dodge 2500 conversion van) next to a high top Nissan at the gas pump the other day. It is parked slightly downhill from the new Nissan but this may help size perspective.

Where else would I meet up with one of these things but at a gas station...

The Dodge front end is much sexier.

Exactly; I could never get used to having so much of the engine inside the van. The Nissan is really a hybrid between an SUV and a van...sort of like a Suburban with a sliding side door.

At Pomona last Saturday Penthouse looks good on anything. [photo:29c0igu7]21574[/photo:29c0igu7] sorry didn't get other side.I got side tracked (where's da ball?)
