My starcool air conditioner is blowing fuses. I’ve searched for other posts but my system seems to be different. I can’t locate a second fan under the driver side.

I believe that my condenser fan is causing the fuse to blow. I am able to turn the fan but it’s difficult to move. Should the fan blade spin freely or have considerable resistance?

Any help is greatly appreciated!! So happy to join this forum.

Should spin freely IIRC. Both of mine were totally frozen. I have a SC3 1998.

Yup, fans should spin completely freely, and if it doesn't, it will blow the fuse for sure. . It's possible the aux condenser fan was removed when it seized up. Both mine are frozen solid.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I wanted to close out this thread with a summary of how I fixed my star cool rear air-conditioner. I bought a 14 inch 12 V DC fan that was an exact replacement. I started with the 9 inch fan as recommended by other members on different threads and it turned out to be the wrong size for my van. I removed a couple of trim covers and the front grill as well as the hood latch to replace the fan. It took about three hours total so I consider myself lucky and I am thrilled to have a working rear air conditioner again. Cheers !
