juhurabu.jpg

And have decided to build a more friendly daily drivable, better mpg, expedition rig...
Thinking on the lines of this

Have found a few good candidates...
This ones a CLEAN 1982
a6u9ydyq.jpg

1.8 4wd high/low 4speed avg 25-30mpg with ac and factory canopy/jump seats. I'm thinking mild lift (3inches), custom bumpers, custom rear rack for storage, small arb fridge with stove for day trips, that will be towed behind Vatonka!
Am I nuts or what? Let me know what ya think

That's a cool Brat! Looks in nice shape. Back in the 80s I had one of the early Subaru AWD wagons, probably from the 70s, complete with front brush guard. Wish I still had it! I'm on my sixth Subie now.

Re: SUBARU BRAT!

You're not nuts. That's a great toad. Grab that first one if you can, it's SWEET!!!

Re: SUBARU BRAT!

I used to spend a lot of time in this forum: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/

Great score on the Brat. Do it :a2:

Part of getting wifey to agree to the SMB purchase was getting rid of two 1978 4WD wagons. I've also had a 79 sedan, an 87 Loyale, and a 99 Outback. Great cars, especially the older ones.

Re: SUBARU BRAT!

I think you're nuts. of course anyone who spend big bucks on an SMB is nuts, so you are on the right forum.

Have fun with your Brat. I had fun with mine.

Re: SUBARU BRAT!

The way I like to think about it is that "we" are normal. It is everyone else that has a problem.

We've talked about getting a small 4x4 for a toad. What was wrong with the Samurai? I would think with a mild lift it might be OK. Or maybe a Sidekick.

Dhally,
How are ya bud? Hope all is well, The Sami was a great rig but it was a little over built for my needs...it was more of a trail rig had 456 gears and 6.5.1 transfer case gears not to mention 33's which was a little much for the stock 1.3 w/60 HP/6500 rpm, 10.6 gallon
tank which gets 17-23 mpg.

The Brat weighs about 200lbs less, its 39 inches longer, 4 inches wider, has a truck bed for more cargo space, its 1.8 w/72HP/4800 rpm, 14.5 gallon tank, that gets 25-30mpg and will be more comfortable to drive not to mention will be "cool as ****"

It does sound cool. Will you be getting the super-cool back seats?

All brats had them from the factory due to the Chicken tax until 1986.

Ah what a beautiful reminder of bygone days. Check out that crafty Sun-magnet she has. Hint, it's the thing next to the bikini you were looking at.
