No, simpler if black. You don't have to get tint base mixed. I was going to give you a pointer or two if you were doing a color. I haven't sprayed black but I'm sure it's easy. I would use at least 3 of the four bottles. Just keep spraying and get it nice and thick so you don't have color variations, and be really careful to not drag your hose through fresh work. It's really hard to cover if you do that but in general this stuff is really forgiving. I love it.

Not that I know of but these aren't sitting flat on the roof. There's a little room under there, 1/2 to 3/4" I'd say. If that is a consideration I'd like to know!

Kyocera specs 2" between panel and mounting surface. As Flux said you get a reduction of around 4.6% per 10°C on your Pmax rating. The majority of that is in Vmp about 5% per 10°C and Imp 0.6% per 10°C.

You also get heat transfer from the panel to the roof of the van, so the gap helps reduce that.

At least some of the root cause of failing flexible panels has been lack of airflow under them, and the heat it generates.

I would've never thought that since so many are flush mounted, and I don't mean the flexible ones. The SMB one I removed was flush mounted. The bolts I used on Marc's van are plenty long if he chooses to raise it. It would simply be a matter of removing the nuts on each side or front/back and lifting one side at a time to add some spacers. I'll leave that up to him since the van is back in Vermont now, hundreds of miles from me. That's certainly good to know for future reference though!

Scotty , I agree you weren't the first nor will you be the last. Our platforms are not the best starting points for Solar installs. It is also debatable on the actual impact, seeing as most of that drop is in Vmp, which if you are using a PWM controller, might be minimal. If you have a MPPT controller, this is one of the reasons why you don't see the big benefits that the sales literature talks about. Also depends on the specification of the panel itself, location and season we are camping.
