Wanted 4x4 EB 2004 or newer

Hey Ross, I know you want a little newer but there's a fairly loaded Baja Tan EB on the SMB website, located in Seattle too, that might be worth looking at. Sure you've seen it, its an '02. Looks pretty clean, buyer motivated so might be able to deal. 59k but w/diesel just breaking in.

I'd put some some different wheels and tires on it but otherwise might be a pretty good deal. Almost identical interior specs as you saw in mine except looks like they have cook stove top built in and door pantry.

Two appealing things about that one;

The word "motivated" in the ad.
It has the 7.3L turbo diesel.

Also noticed there's a nice, used '06 RB at the Indiana location. I know you're looking for and EB, but sometimes, if the price is right...

The wife and I looked at the one in Indiana. It was converted in CA and has the SMB 4x4. Looks pretty good and has been on the lot for several months. Don't know if they are motivated or not. It has all the bells and whistles.

Seattle SMB

We saw the one in Seattle and were afraid of it. It has been for sale for a long time. Since we are new to this we got a little afraid because it seems like most SMB's go really fast on the site. Any suggestions?

Hard to say. It could be that it's not "new enough" for many people. I'd love to have the 7.3L diesel over the 6.0L. For any used SMB purchase, assuming it's a Ford, get the full VIN number, sign up on either TheDeiselStop.com or BlueOval.com, post the VIN and ask someone to run an OASIS report. There are a lot of Ford techs on those sites who will run a report for you and post the results. OASIS lists all Ford repair work done on a vehicle. You probably want them to interpret the results for you as well, it's in a lot of code.

BTW, there's another used SMB just posted that has a fixed Voyager top, somewhere north of Seattle.

I'd say part of it is the time of year. People aren't really fired up to get out and go exploring in the winter. They want to hang out and be toasty warm.

Me personally I live for the winter. Also, thats what the furnace is for, albeit w/ the -15 below temps we have right now I don't want to be in my van trying to sleep.

Back to the van in Seattle, have you gone and actually checked it out in person yet?? And per the above recommendation run the Vin and see what the service history has been at the dealer. Being this time of yr if the van checked out and there are no gremlins, cash talks. Bet you could do better than the listed price. I've scored great deals on used vehicles in the past in the middle of winter

yeah Ross, I wouldnt worry too much about time on market; and there are ways to probe and find out what may or may not be an answer why. And as BroncoHauler aptly points out, it might just be the year. Plus he points out another huge plus I missed---the 7.3! OMG, there are people that would die for a 7.3 SMG over the 6.0 (dont need to get that discussion going again, just an observation validated by my Ford (factory certified) mechanic who works on 6.0's every day and says he wouldnt buy one and wont ever sell his own 7.3 pick-up).

I may be up there next month, if its still there and you want me to check it out I might be able to. There are others on this forum, Velogeo comes to mind, who might be willing to

I could go take a look next week some time. I'm not Mr. Goodwrench, but I could at least tell you that the top opened correctly, it wasn't dripping oil or that it smelled like a meth lab.

2006 EB #350 Diesel 20,600 miles

Ross,
Just registered on the forum and saw that you might be in the market for a loaded SMB. My wife and I will be posting ours on ebay soon. I don't think there is anything that Sportsmobile offers that we don't have on ours. We bought it with 16,000 miles on it from a gentlemen that drove around the Western US for 6 months and decided to go back to work. We bought it sight unseen (had a guy drive it to SMB for them to add solar and extra trail lights) We had never seen a SMB but liked the concept we bought one. We paid an outfit to transport the vehicle from CA to OK to keep miles off of the vehicle. We are selling it because it much more 'aggressive" than we imagined. If you are interested in discussing the vehicle feel free to call.

Options are:

2006 Ford E-350 (Extended) 4x4 Diesel with 20,600 miles. This vehicle is in excellent condition- no dings, never smoked in, smells new, gorgeous gray flake. Options on this vehicle include: electric penthouse w/bed , "50" floor plan that includes leather seating-2 front bucket seats, 1 removable bucket behind passenger seat, back bench that also folds down as a bed with extension behind bench. 110 outlets interior and exterior. I think you might end up with more cash in your pocket if you came up with an asking price and posted that here. There are many lurkers and future SMB owners here who would jump on a reasonably priced SMB. It does sound very well equipped.

BTW, if you like the concept of an SMB, you can always order a more street-like conversion whether 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive. Stock bumpers and a lower lift, people would hardly notice the van.
