What else should I do? - 6.0 Engine Rebuild List

Hi Joe, Yes, I have an aftermarket EGR cooler, and at this point all things are pointing to a failed Oil cooler but it may also be something else, and I’m just praying for the best. :)

Yeah, agreed. The only place that the oil can mix with coolant is in the oil cooler unless it's a failed HG. For aftermarket EGR cooler bulletproof diesel is the go-to but maybe sinister is ok too. As for oil coolers, I've heard nothing but bad things about aftermarket and OEM with the extra passageway (over the original) is the way to go.

Hey Guys,

Has anyone heard of the IPR Oil Cooler/High Flow Coolant filter setup? I did some research and it seems like a great idea. The external Oil cooler is mounted outside of the Valley of the engine bay and installed along your Frame rail or any other place you have room. They also now use the 6.7 Oil cooler for better performance and reliability.

Also, they sell a separate Coolant Filter kit where they claim to filter all the coolant before it goes into the Oil cooler.

Check out this video that does a step-by-step installation. It seems straightforward or at least much easier than an Bulletproof Oiler Kit install.

Hey there,
My first post here. Your engine is an impressive build, although I may know what happened with your oil cooler. Your tech, not knowingly may have installed a Dorman oil cooler. I found out that Ford updated the part number for the 6.0 oil cooler, and stopped buying them from International. Instead, they began reboxing Dorman oil coolers in a Ford box.

Ford did change to a new supplier but how do you know it's Dorman? One way to check is a Dorman cooler comes with a purple gasket and not blue.

One upside to buying OEM is that Ford does maintain pretty good quality control on their Motorcraft vendors.

I read several threads, I believe powerstrokenation and ford-trucks suggesting that this was the case.

Word on the street is its worth sourcing 6.0 parts from International, Ford is reboxing a lot of 3rd party stuff these days and charging Ford prices for it.
