Not sure on the pads - but I have a 2002 E350 V10 with Quigley 4x4 and RIP Kit. I had a SSBC Big Brake Upgrade package installed and WOW what a difference in stopping ability ! Best money I've spent on my van yet ! Spend the money and STOP the van safely ! My van weighs 9500 - 9800 before "loaded for bear."

It depends on which calipers you have based on model year. Or also rotor size. Ford went to bigger rotors and calipers in 2008+. If it's a 13" rotor then you have the smaller calipers. Sportsmobile spec'd those rigs with 16" wheels.

If the wheels are 17 or 18" then dollars to donuts the rotors are 14.53" and you've got the bigger rotors that came on the E450.

SSBC Big brake upgrade kit ? I need to learn more, my 99 7.3 has squeaky brakes that I'd like to work better. I hope they make em for my model thanks!!!

I searched for it and couldn't find it. Do you have the part number?

@khalidalajm: Great looking Van. It may just be the quality of the pic when I enlarge it, but your initial post states you have a Sportsmobile…and from the picture it looks like you have to roof rack mounted to the roof drip rail (so I’m guessing no pop-top???). Did Sportsmobile do the actual 4x4 conversion or do you have a well dressed Quigley 4x4?

If it’s a Quigley you can contact them and request a copy of the build by providing your VIN number. At least then you’ll have all the specifics if you ever need it - I’ve seen a couple of these reports but honestly just don’t recall if the brake pad’s were listed with the rest.

If you have the bigger brakes and a dynatrac front axle that came with a Sportsmobile 4x4 conversion then the calipers are:
8C2Z-2B121-CL OEM/Motorcraft Caliper, LEFT
8C2Z-2B120-CR OEM/Motorcraft Caliper, RIGHT

My preference for pads are Hawk although I hear the Ford superduty pads are good as well. HB775Y.735 Front Hawk Performance LTS Brake Pad

This is an original SPORTSMOBILE but the roof is not high. It was a search and rescue vehicle, only 11,000 miles. I bought it a year ago. It had an engine failure and I replaced the engine and now everything is fine. I am only looking for consumables because this is the only car in my country.

Thanks, I will try it.

That is indeed a sweet looking rig and congrats on the purchase! Year and VIN will help pin down which brake pads you need. It looks like you have 17" wheels so that could be either the smaller rotors/calipers or bigger ones.

I believe that generally in the earlier years Sportsmobile was mainly using 16" wheels. But when Ford went to the bigger brakes that size wheel won't clear calipers with a 14.5" rotor.

So Ford never built an E350 4x4, that is an aftermarket conversion. Not a bad thing, but you need to know WHO did the conversion, and WHAT they used brakes wise. I am going to assume later model F350 front diff / brakes setup as that is the most common.

If your van does not have a binder with documentation on converted stuff, start putting one together now, this is going to be vital info if you plan on keeping it.

I upgraded the brakes on my F150 4x4 to Powerslot discs and EBC Greenstuff sythetic pads. With the camper shell camper loaded up, and fishing boat in tow, it stopped like it was empty with nothing behind it.... Mind you only mountains it ever saw was Arkansas and TN, but again, no problems. Might have to take it to Oregon and test it out....

One issue I did have with the EBC pads, is they do produce a more than minimal amount of brake dust, you might want to make sure your wheels are dead on clean and then Ceramic coatings on the wheels specifically designed to prevent brake dust buildup are important here...

At first glance this looks like the 4x4 conversion was done by Sportsmobile, but I'd need better photos of the front wheel well area to be sure.

Here is a copy of the manual for the 2008 Sportsmobile:

The relevant info is on the last page:
Brake Rotor: 1995-98 Ford F350/Auto Specialty AR8553/ Dynatrac #DA601125-D
