I'm leaving on April 18 for a week in the Moab area, and will be driving the White Rim trail through Canyonlands NP, as well as seeing Arches and the adjoining area. The trail is a 100 mile dirt, gravel and sand route through some spectacular scenery. See you there!

Might be heading to Moab around the first week of June. :a5:

Let us know if you find any good camping spots (BLM,etc).

Anyone else know of some good spots to camp in Moab?

There is more camping around Moab than anywhere else I've seen. Dozens, if not hundreds of trails in every direction, with camping anywhere. The NP sites fill up and often require reservations. That's why I got a SMB. Lots of BLMN roads everywhere. Good maps available in most stores there. You can't go wrong.

I'm working on some images to be posted here soon....

There are plenty of good choices. I ended up using the BLM somewhat developed sites (running water, pit toilets) along the Colorado River (a road parallels (Utah 128) the Colorado on the Moab side of the river). A number of the trails have camping opportunities. Arches NP CG filled very early every.

A good trail book for the area is Guide to Moab, UT Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails (Paperback) by Charles A. Wells.

Great pictures!

That whole area (Canyonlands, Arches, Zion, Bryce) are all on our must do list however we need to work around the school breaks and it seems to get pretty hot in the summer :a5:

Thanks for posting.

Jage !!

...come on... you know since those are photos that Jeffrey would have been out with the armor all shortly after taking those and noticing the dirty tires...

(hhmmm.... how will I keep my tires clean once we finally get our SMB????)

.

Dirt and dust was my middle name in this trip. EVERYTHING was coated in layers of that beautiful red Utah fine powder dust, including myself I spent at least three hours cleaning up when back home. Fortunately I have a 10 HP rotary compressor at the shop. A LOT of dust had entered the vehicle and I was not happy about it. Today I added more rubber weatherstripping all around the rear door and the lid to the baja box. Dust was coming in from underneath into the cabinet below the sink, the potty cabinet, and behind the drawer, coating it's contents. THAT will be fun to track down and patch.

Nice pictures Jeffery! There's a place SW of Moab called Cottonwood Canyon. That's a nice place to camp. I've been there several times.

There's another place about 100 miles west of Moab called Sawsey's Cabin. Another nice place to hang out.

In both places I've seen lots of pictographs(mostly in Cottonwood), Big Horn Sheep, Wild Mustangs, Jack Rabbits, Ravins, other birds of prey & many more interesting critters. If you are ever there again, you might want to check those spots out. As a matter-of-fact, if you are interested, check out these pictures from last year at Sawsey's on my website. They are listed under 2007 Moose.

Very cool pics. An SMB with a dirtbike on the back is the ideal way to explore new areas. The pics give me sellers remorse about my XR. I had a mint xr250 dualsport that I sold to "make room" for another dirtbike. That was a mistake.

Jeffrey, I noticed that you have a Baja Box on the rear bumper. What size is that blue container in the left side basket portion?

I just replaced my Baja Basket with a Baja Box, and was disappointed that my 20 gallon metal WEDCO water container would not fit in the basket portion.

Great pics, as always!

Thanks! You can always get another XR250. They always seem to turn up when you least expect it.

That was my buddies XR600. He's a big guy & makes the 600 look small. The van is one that he bought from Honda when he worked for them many years ago. It was 2WD but several years ago, he converted it to a 4X4. Like all of us, it's a work in progress.

Errrr. sorry. Not 20 gallons a container. But 20 gallons in four containers total in a Baja Basket.

Neither my 5 gallon metal WEDCO or my 5 gallon plastic Reliance water containers fit in the left side of my new Baja Box.
