Heater core input hose?

Does anyone know which hose is the in-going and which is the outgoing for the Heater core? They go through the firewall to the left of the engine when looking into the engine compartment. One is above the other.

I would prefer to splice in the valve I got from Dieselsite on the in-going hose.

The directions tell you which hose to cut into - the top I believe. But, I couldn't get near that hose, so I spliced into the hose I could reach. Works fine.

Did you see the thread about the filter installation?

If you remove the turbo hose and alternator, you will have an easier time getting your hands in there.

I'm not sure it matter which hose you tee into. The vans don't have a valve to stop water flow into the heater.

Thanks Mike. I poked around the area yesterday to figure a plan out, but the sky's were about to open up and I don't have a covered work space, so decided not to start cutting hoses.

Mr. Badger used the upper hose as well out of convenience, so maybe I'm making too much out of putting it on the in-going hose. Just seems to make sense to me to stop the hot water from being able to hit the core.

The T you inserted is much smaller than the valve. I may have to extend the hose to get it to where I can insert the valve.

What valve are you installing? Why is your installation so different than mine?

The only valves I remember are screwed into the filter adapter to shut of the flow during filter changes. Are you trying to stop the flow into the heater, or to install a coolant filter?

The heat build-up in the vents has always driven me crazy and it seems that Badger had some success in reducing the problem using these, so I'm giving it a try.

That explains that.

Sorry, thought you were installing a coolant filter.

But, it still probably doesn't matter which hose you install your vavle in. Either way, you will block the flow through the heater core.

There isn't much room in there to work, and adding some hose and mounting the valve remotely might be a good approach.

Please let me know if successful. I bought the Max AC assist quite some time ago, and brought it with me to SMBw and asked them to install it. According to whoever they talked to at at a local Ford dealership, it was unnecessary on an '06, "since it it already installed". I didn't believe it then, and I still don't believe it. On the Vent setting with the engine warm, there's always hot air blowing out. I call it the Politician setting.

I still have the Max AC and hopefully will get around to installing it someday. The Cold Rush wasn't available when I bought the Max AC.

Will do Herb. I have an '05 as does Badger. I looked to see if I had the "factory valve" and see no sign of one. I'm hoping for good results.

Herb,

One would think I would have gotten around to this by now, but it is still all sitting in the boxes they came from. Hopefully soon.

I posted my original question from this thread to a couple other forums yesterday hoping to find an answer. I think I'm also going to install the coolant filter so need to know which way the coolant is flowing to make sure I put the T on the right side of the valve. I would prefer to do all this on the input hose to the heater core. If I put it on the output of the heater core, I'll still have coolant flowing through the core while the valve is shut thereby defeating the purpose of the valve.

I promise to post an update when I get around to doing the work.
