I just got a 4" lift. And I think it's a good choice. (I guess I would though, so I'll admit to a built-in prejudice.

These vehicles are tall enough.
2 extra inches seems to add a lot of engineering.
Realistically, how tough of a trail are you going to tackle? Will you need the extra body/frame clearance that a 6" lift and substantially taller tires might provide?
That extra lift is a further compromise to stability.
The extra tire height is still more of a compromise to stability.
Plus the extra tire height means the tire is way heavier. Sure rolling resistance is lower, but the unsprung weight is an issue in handling, etc.
And how about the extra height as an issue in off-camber situations?
You could dismiss me as too practical-minded but I did put lockers front and rear on mine. You could put your $1000 towards those. I figure the weight of these machines makes them deserve the possibility of extra traction when needed. Plus, anything that will help me from ever using a winch seems like a big plus.
