Aux. gas tank on Ford 350

Just got a used 2006 Ford diesel 350. My gas gauge looks like it only shows 1/2 of what's in the tank when it's below 1/4.
Is there a switch to show how much is in the tank or does it need to be recalibrated?

Do you have the 46-gallon Transfer Flow replacement tank installed?

If your van has the 46-gallon tank rather than the stock 37-gallon Ford tank, then your gas gauge will most likely behave in one of these two ways after fill-up:

- Gauge reads "Full" for about the first 10 gallons,
then moves down to "Empty" when the tank is really empty. (This is what my tank does.)

- Gauge immediately starts going down, but starts reading "Empty" when you still have about 10 gallons left.

I do not believe there is a way to recalibrate the fuel gauge.

Some of us also have trouble getting this last 10 gallons in too due to foaming shutting off the nozzle, makes it look like a 38 gal or that you have the 10 on the bottom when you don't.

I wonder if any of the additives we're supposed to be using with the ULSL diesel would help with the foaming. I know there are things some of the refiners add that help with that.
