Re: Hubs

Maybe this is an obsolete kit BSm. '99 is the story date. And it is five lug I just noticed.
http://www.jpmagazine.com/techarticles/ ... ewall.html

I am not knowledged on if these kits are available on our Fords or not.
Only pointing out that they have been used on various vehicles over the years.
And can be a cool option (if available) for a big heavy vehicle.

Anyways... Hubs up front are a good thing... If you don't mind getting out of your vehicle.
I'll be finished with my rear hubs saga...

Re: Hubs

Those are the full float conversion hubs for a semi float axle. They bolt a stub axle to the ends of the housing, where the bearing retainer used to bolt on, and then use a front locking hub and axle splined on both ends. These are only available for light duty semi floating axles. There is nothing available for our full floating axle, or our 8 lug semi floaters.

Now, if you have a E150 1/2 ton with a semi floating Ford 9 inch or an 8.8 inch, then you could convert to full float and lock hubs.

Re: Hubs

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies, now i need your appreciation about boulder offroad, i live in Canada and i find sportsman 4x4 but he don't use solid axle and manual hub for GMC Savana 3500 2007. I delete afwd of my list, i need to do choice between boulder offroad and sportsman4x4. For the canadian, do you convert your truck in 4x4 in USA and come back canada after. Do you have problem with the custom or other ?

Thanks

Yanick

Re: Hubs

Gotcha BSm. Thanks for the clarification.
I don't recall anyone here breaking rear axles anyway - a moot point I suppose.

My thoughts on the 4x4 Fords vans (and hubs) is the less electronics the better.
I realize many here go the opposite and load their smb's up with gadgetry.
Its all good.

Its all good.

At least two forum members have reported broken SF rear axles. Our vans tend to be heavy and the axles can be a weak point. Several forum members (myself included) have converted to full floating axles from E-350 cutaway vans as cheap insurance against axle failure.
