Re: Wilson's Saggy Butt

I think you need to weigh it to find out how much weight is on the rear. And measure to decide how high you need it to be then contact Deavers for the right springs.

Re: Wilson's Saggy Butt

I had Deaver make a couple changes to my rear spring pack a month or two after having them installed. The ride was great when empty the first go, but fully loaded I also had a saggy butt which I didn't like. They added one more leaf which did stiffen the rear up a bit when unloaded, but is now perfect when loaded (both in ride height and feel).

I also had a new main leaf made and installed to position my axle about an inch forward from where their first spring pack had it (for some reason, the "stock" Deaver pack seems to slightly set the axle a little further to the rear than the Ford spring pack). This was for a few reasons: 1) Visually, the tire sat too far to the rear of the wheel well, 2) The differential hit my second house battery on my fully loaded trip in Canyon Lands. No bad damage, but not a good situation, 3) if / when I go to 35" tires, the rear tires would have hit the fender. After this work I had my drive shaft shortened by about 1.5" which put everything right where I wanted it.

I do want to mention that Deaver was great to work with on these changes with the end desire to have a happy customer drive away from their shop. They succeeded.

I too would suggest calling Deaver. They will solve your problem.

Re: Wilson's Saggy Butt

Pack it full, tanks included; just as it would be when traveling to get the right spring settings.
