Re: Where is your brake controller (E350)?

Having the brake controller in front of my knee worries me a lot from an accident perspective. I put mine on a flexible stalk which also has my auxiliary idle controller on it. It makes accessing the cup holders a little awkward, but otherwise, I really like the location.

Re: Where is your brake controller (E350)?

I also have a P3 and mounted it similarly to Bronco and some others, only I chose to mount it a little higher to the dash itself. My drivers knee cover didn't seem as rigid as I'd like. I also have some storage nets on the knee panels that I'd like to keep there.

Now I know what you may be thinking, that part of the dash isn't quite parallel with the front of the van. The good thing is, if you use machine screws with nuts, you can sink the one side into the soft dash a bit. I also rounded the corners of the metal bracket so it wouldn't be a knuckle buster.

Bottom of steering column. Never gets bumped, can activate it with either hand.

Re: Where is your brake controller (E350)?

Mine is in front of my left shin, all the way under the knee-guard. I didn't love the idea of putting things that could cause injury into an impact zone. I can reach it OK, but it does involve moving a little which means holding the wheel steady as with a wagging trailer as I move down. I've done it a couple of times and it went fine, but it's not ideal. I don't tow all that often though, so I can just slow down (more) when I do.

If I did it over, or pulled it for any reason, I'd follow Carringb's approach.

I also a p3 which seems popular here. I love that it tells me mostly what's going on with the inevitable forked up trailer wiring on the stuff my friends have me tow.
