2005 E350 6.0 Diesel 4x4 with 70K mi for 40K... Opinions?
Found a nicely maintained relatively high milage SMB nearby with basic package/PH (has bumpers, tire carrier, no stove or heat/AC no awning). I have been shopping for a while and this seems ballpark. More often we see 40K mi for 70K. Any thoughts?

Not a lot of info to go on, but 70K isn't that high of miles in my opinion. If it was 166K I'd have a hard thought or two. With the 4x4 and diesel it seems like kind of a steal to me.

Is that a regular body? I thought they only offered the voyager top on an extended body van. What year is the van? I agree with Jage, 70K is actually quite OK for a used van if the price is right.

Is this the van that was on e-bay? If so, $40K seems like a good deal.

That van pictured above is for sale here in Boulder. I went and looked at it. I believe he was asking around $19k.
The guy who's selling it seems fairly straight up. He's actively using the van and it seems to run great, did not drive it. The build out is not Sportsmobile but it looked like a high quality build out.
Everything seemed pretty straight. There were many minor things, some that need to be fixed and some that don't. The little latch that holds the rear spare on was broken but a bungee was holding it in place. There are some deep scratches in the fiberglass top, but nothing that's creating a leak.
The biggest neg I noticed was a smell of dog inside the vehicle. He obviously traveled with a k9 a lot. You would want to have it cleaned from front to rear to get the smell out.
From what I could tell, it was an extremely good deal on a fairly solid van. He's had it a long time and put a lot of miles on it. He's got a long list of repairs he's made and he'll tell you straight up what condition everything is in.

Zaskoda,
Was it an RB or an EB. Sorry Z, just wanted to be sure if they can put a cruiser top on an RB. Thanks.

It's listed here:

I'm 99.9999% sure it's a regular body.

Re: 2005 E350 6.0 Diesel 4x4 with 70K mi for 40K... Opinions?
Sorry about confusion...I added a link above I thought was entertaining more for the dialogue than that vehicle. It got changed to the photo and I think we are now talking about 2 vehicles.
No, the SMB I am looking at is a 2005 SMB w/ Poptop, PSD, 70K miles and basic E350 EB50, with no heat/awning/ladder/rack, but the bumper/tire carrier. It was on eBay but didn't make the reserve x 2 ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 888wt_1167 or http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 508wt_1167) although I think 40-45K seems appropriate. I was interested in whether that ballpark was good. The "did not meet reserve" thing seems like it could work for a dealer to entice buyers if they set it "high" to either get into a bidding war or come over after to the lot and get the price pushed higher after the auction. They have no incentive to set it at "reasonable" or "low" unless they really need to get it out of their inventory. Since this is the second time it was on eBay, I imagine they can sit on it. Over the past few months, we have seen similar SMB go from private owners for about this price.
