Bellingham, WA. Within a short drive from several large refineries. Obviously transporting the fuel from where it's made to my local station must cost a huge amount... AAA says $4.70 is the national average right now.

The Brownsville (Texas) Herald had a photo on their front page of a station in Gilroy, CA, gas $5.25, diesel, $6.25. Could that be because of the fires?

Here in S. Texas diesel is $4.25, two bits higher than three weeks ago. I'm washing my van more and driving it less.

$4.25! What's the job market in S. Texas? I'm ready to move.

Saw 5.35 for #2 in Santa Barbara. Hey it could be worse, I just heard on the radio that diesel is $11.00 gallon in England and not much cheaper in other european countries. That would make a SMB fill up about 350 to 400 bucks. I'm just glad that I don't have to drive my SMB. I can afford to put fuel in it for camping trips but would hate to drive it around town everyday. You know that the prices will never come down much due to higher worldwide demand. This may be what we need to spawn some common sense investment in mass transit in this country.

Herb,
The Rio Grande Valley is a bustling economy. There is plenty of work, the cost of living is insanely low. I'm looking at the paper, two story Mediterranean style home, 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, 2 car garage, 2,500 sq. feet, granite countertops blah, blah: $199K. This is typical. But then you'd have to come to the beach to cool off.

Though some of the data may be a little old, and the fuel therefore more expensive, here's a site I recommend to help find the lowest prices in your area. Beats driving around trying to find the lowest price.
