My Rims Did An Odd Thing

I recently got some center caps for my new rims... they weren't in stock when I had the wheels put on. This past weekend I drove out to Steamboat through a lot of snow and muck. I stopped to get gas and the back left center cap looked like this:



I thought it was neat enough to take a photo... but then at our next stop, for coffee, the wheel looked like this:



I'd never seen ice form like that before.. made me kinda want spikes on my wheels mad max style. =)
