I have had 20 panels with the Enphase individual inverters on the roof for almost five years. The advantage is the with the proper on-line monitoring system you can obtain almost instantaneous individual panel readout of output plus historical graphing output capability, very nice for system monitoring. The downside is that they are prone to failure, I am averaging one inverter (handles two panels) about every year. The issue is well known in the industry and it is easy to research. Would I change to an individual inverter if I had it all to do over again? No, I went with the individual design for the monitoring capability and would do so again. The problem with the individual inverters is that they are an electronic component mounted in what is often a high-heat environment on the roof under the panel. I believe that Enphase will come up with a new and better design, in the meantime a good warranty has kept me a happy customer.

Over the first 365 days, we totaled 18.9MWhs. No electricity payments at all this year, though the past month our AC has been running all the time due to a really hot month. Next month I expect a small bill. No issues at all with the Enphase microinverters.

Getting the tax credit back this past April from the original purchase price sure was nice.

Looks great, Herb. I'd have to sell the SMB to do that! Not happening. But I have new panels on top of it now.

That LG Panel is the same as we have on the roof of our van except 300w vs 315w. Great panels. Solar on the roof of the van has been a real game changer. I have the Truck fridge and National Luna Chest (used as a freezer) running ALL the time. I have not plugged in the van since the ski trip in March.

The other day I fired up the water heater DC element just make sure all was good. In two hours on a sunny day I had 4 gals of nice hot water. Ice Cold Beer, Hot water and fully charge 480Ah battery bank all from the sun! Sweet.

Super nice set up Herb. Very Nice!!

Completely understand Jeffrey. Really the only reason I was able to pull it off was using some of the equity from when we sold our house in CA.

Herb

2nd year ended with just over an additional 19MWhs. Still no bills, but as the rates charged by our electricity company go up, we'll be paying something soon enough, though it will be nothing like some people are paying especially during the hot Summer months.

No problems at all with the Enphase micro inverters.
