To flare or not to flare?

Curious how many of you are running without fender flares. Im looking to do about 4" lift on 33" tires with a agile conversion soon. I live in Los angeles and dont see much weather. Im really diggin the weldtech fiberglass fenders

Please chime in especially if you have a similar set up and please post pics. Or if there are other fender flare options than the common ones on everyones rig. Thanks gang!

I am in the same boat with my conversion coming up, I am leaning towards the fiberglass I think but have never seen them in person. I am always changing my mind and still like the flares to, haha.

Van is currently at agile and i opted for the Bushwackers for around $500 total. But definitely went back and forth on it

I've said it in another thread, but I bought a pair of fiberglass front fenders a few years ago and didn't like the way they looked with the stock bumper. I removed the passenger side steel fender and just set the fiberglass in place to get a look, and then I put the steel fender back on. I still plan to put them back on some day, but probably not before replacing the front bumper.

I look at some vans and think it looks good, but have never considered them for my own van, not sure why.

I think Weldtec is selling Glassworks fenders and not making their own.

I have ATS flares which are similar to Bushwackers. They're good for keeping much off the doors. If I did it over I'd probably go with the Weldtech flares since they include the extra tire clearance. With Bushwackers you still have to sawzall the fender.

Are the ATS for the vans? Or did you modify ones made for something else?

Hopefully Carringb will chime in. I'm most definitely looking for something like Bushwackers but cheaper. Unfortunately ATS, if they can be had, aren't but a little cheaper.

In California, you must have your fenders extend to the outside of the tires...something to consider. Our van has Bushmasters.

If you don't sawzall, you are not gaining extra clearance (for larger diameter tires), only width coverage. Of course when you sawzall, you can't go back! Sometimes the structural lip is removed when you sawzall for fitting Bushwackers, making for more flexible fenders.
Some Bushwacker fenders get discontinued (as in my sliding door version), so if I had to do it again I would buy an extra set and put them in storage.

I know a Hot Rodder who opens up steel fenders for bigger tires. Ultimate coolness. Large expense. But oh so cool.

Its all about tires not rubbing with your final result. If they rub, its not right.
