My latest KMZ file for Carrizo Plain can be downloaded here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jurs54wsam...Plain.kmz?dl=0

The gallery of photos from my latest trip is here: Carrizo Plain - March 25-26, 2017 - stevenportnoy

The word is out about this area's wildflowers. It was nothing like the crowds in Borrego Springs but still unusually high. If you go, please be a shining example of the principles of Leave No Trace to make up for those who won't be.

Not as many photos as this thread but looks like the driest place on Earth (outside the poles) is showing its colors, too: Atacama flowers/.

I've been told natives had no word for rain when the Spaniards arrived. ¿Quien sabe? I can say the soil surface is as solid as ice--no dust or dirt--but not slippery.
