Nobody except for the crowds[emoji44]......
So does that mean you’ll be crossing at Mexicali or do you go to Tecate?

Tecate. And getting in is easy, getting out is when the lines come into play.
Usually take a few hours.

Robb, Jeff, what’s your planned route? After crossing at Tecate, do you head down to Ensenada then across 3 to San Felipe or do you head across 2/2D and pick up 5 south to San Felipe?
Where’s the dry lake that was mentioned earlier?
Picked up the Nat Geo Baja adventure travel maps, good stuff, also shows both gas/diesel stations, at least locations,
maybe not availability.....[emoji90]

Not sure what John is planning, but I assume compadre trail to 3, stop for tacos in Valle de T, then out to dry lake bed for a beer and down to SF.

[QUOTE=1der;213333]Let's get list of who is committed to going, what date crossing into Baja, 1der - into MX Nov 8th to 10th depending on group around that time, planning on exploring until Dec 1. Exploring, chilling, fishing, exploring.QUOTE]
My crossing date is most likely to be the 14th, but I can't confirm until Mrs A/T clears up some business and then makes a plane reservation. I'll pick her up in San Diego, then head to Baja. I'm trying to get her down a bit earlier, but at the moment we don't know.
As for the route planned, RPA's post outlines a great way to go, since the highway isn't as much fun.
It looks like we will need a tourist permit now too. This is a new requirement since the last time I was in Baja (2015) Apparently they were always required, but rarely inforced. Here is some info on the subject.
https://www.bajabound.com/before/permits/visa.php
It will probably be best to purchace one online in advance (no more than 30 days) but a stop at the immigration office is still required to have it date stamped. It looks like several Mexican insurance companys can provide them at the same time you purchace insurance online.
If fishing, you will need a fishing license too.
Don't forget to bring some sort of two way radio if you have one, it makes group travel much simpler.

Another tid-bit I just discovered, Costco will exchange dollars with no service charge at the Chula Vista location. More info here:

I got a call from John at Agile today, and we discussed several items. First, the memorial design is finished and the material has been sourced. It will be a stainless plate, waterjetted and welded to a steel post. Once it's complete, I'll post some photos here. We also talked about logistics, he still plans to depart Agile on the 16th, but since that's the day the race starts, he no longer plans to cross the dry lake bed due to the possibility of the race following the same route. Since the exact route is yet to be published, the spot for viewing will be unknown for a while longer. Once the route is available, we will plan a meet up place for watching the race. After the race, we will move to Juan's, which is on the beach, North of San Filepe, and is big enough to accomidate how ever many folks show up. John will make reservations once we have an idea how many people there will be. Most likely, that's where we will hold the memorial, and plant it where it's certain to stay for many years. Meanwhile, Mrs A/T now has a plane ticket to San Diego on the 11th. Once she arrives, I expect to head into Baja within a day or two at most, after stocking up with supplies. So, folks that want to head out earlier than John can join us on the 12th or 13th, or they can simply meet us there. As I mentioned before, I'll have exact locations for race viewing and camping as we get closer to race day.
