Re: Cure for night blindness

Ya know.....after studying the pictures I took last night I can really see how far out of adjustment they are. I can improve the useable light to the road by better adjustments. It's hard to see the problems when you're standing in front of the van. I'll be taking pictures and studying them after every adjustment now.

Re: Cure for night blindness

Just be careful of the road sign reflection back at your eyes, It's as bright as headlights sometimes!

Another big problem with running really bright lights is it gets really dark when you turn them off. Usually because there is a 2 ton object headed your way in the opposite lane. It takes your eyes a while to adjust so you can see again.

I've had some very spooky moments with that problem on my motorcycle. I have 2 hella HID's, 2 PIAA's and upgraded bulbs in the stock headlights on the bike. It gets really, really dark when you turn the 5 high beams off when ur in the twisties doing 60-70 mph on two wheels.

Too bad they didn't make a "dimmer cover" so you could lower the brightness to legal street use. Some of the LED lights have dimmer controls on them. I still keep blackout covers on mine so I don't end up with a ticket or worse, cause a wreck

Re: Cure for night blindness

Legal street use????? That's what stock headlights are for.

I've been running bright lights on most of my vehicles since my first car way back in 1972. I'm very careful about not blinding other people. I'm also a firm believer in having the lights adjusted properly. I adjust my stock headlights with my trailer attatched so the lights don't annoy other drivers when I tow. I never get flashed by oncoming traffic. Out of adjustment headlights because of towing or having a load is one of my pet peeves. At work I drive somewhere between 600-700 miles a week at night and see a lot of out of adjustment lights.

As uncle Ben says "With great power comes great responsibility".

Just for fun, this is a picture of my motorcycle light setup

2-Hella Micro DE HID's, 2-PIAA 525 ATP's and upgraded bulbs in the stock high and low beam

Re: Cure for night blindness

Actually, I was thinking of being able to use the fog lights for fog with a cover attached and as off road type lights with the covers off.
