Just asking a question, Jack sooooooo NOT criticizing........whenever I hear "set screw" I picture those small hex-drive screws, typically meant to install believe the surface.

Were I to own and potentially use these aids like yourself I'd hope to keep them together during use but see an easily installed/removed bolt no less than 3/8" diameter.

Please know I'm NOT a 4wheeler so just talking.

One more day to think about it. Might have to bite the bullet and go with the "Better to have them and not need them......" theory.

They don't take up much space, that's for sure. Managed to stow the Truck Claws, the extender bars, and a Viiair 400p compressor all together in the tiny cubby underneath the van's refrigerator.

Agree, no criticism taken. I meant 'set screw' in a generic sense, was planning to use a slot/hex head type machine screw as you describe, wouldn't want to use the allen head true set screw for that purpose. My apologies for the sloppy terminology.

Went ahead and ordered a set with extender bars. Don't want to be stuck somewhere and wish I'd had them. I look at it like a $144 insurance policy.

I'm a procrastinator, so I waited until the last minute. Unfortunately, my last minute was pacific time zone, not eastern time zone, so I missed out. But...

I emailed the company and got this reply:
