Zugg's Van

Greetings,

Here are some pictures of my van, METTA.
I am about 70% done with the conversion.
The wood comes from well managed forests in California.
I will be finishing the project with FSC, (Forest Stewardship Council) wood.
Some of the wood in the pictures has not been oiled yet.
I used recycled cork, for the floor and countertop.

Peace,

Zugg

Hey Zugg,

I saw you driving that beautiful white van down State Street a couple of Sundays ago. Haven't seen you for a while, and your progress is very impressive! Let's meet up again.

Nice work. I like that you extended the floor space out into the foot well. Every bit counts- I wish I had thought of that.

Nice rims. Looks like they came off an F-Series, no? If so then how did you overcome the 8x6.5 vs 8x170mm?

I have F-Series wheels on my van. The fronts are easy, cause the 4wd conversion uses an F-Series axle. The rears use an adapter that also pushes the wheels out to nearly the same track as the fronts.

Re: Zugg's Van

Greetings,

Thank you all for your comments.
My 4x4 is done by Quadvan and they used the 4x4 from a Ford 350 pickup truck.
The ride is amazing!
In time, I will upgrade the tires, most likely going to get Toyo A/T tires.

Hey Mike, do you know your back spacing for your rims?
My rims are 18" tall, but I need to go to a tire shop, have them check out what the back spacingis.
I may opt for a wider rim, thus providing a wider footprint for snow travel.

Anyone out there using Toyo A/T's and how do they do on snow and rocks?

Peace,

Zugg

Re: Zugg's Van

I believe the F-Series wheels I used are 18"x8" with 6.5" of backspacing. That keeps the fronts inside the body and even with the spacers (1 5/8") the rears are even with the body.

There are a couple of pictures of my van on pages 17/18 of my gallery where you can get an idea of the tire to body alignment.

Re: Zugg's Van

Thanks Mike,

I saw the photos in your gallery.
My current rims "look" very much like the same spacing as yours.
I like the awning supports and mounts.
Does your trailer lower your MPG?

Peace,

Zugg

Re: Zugg's Van

When the trailer is there I'm down about 1 mpg.

Re: Zugg's Van

Greetings,

That sounds great for the MPG.
All the extra storage space is well worth it.
I may opt for one some day.
Thanks,

Zugg
