Bullet Profing a 6.0 L

Just some general questions
1. How many have had this done?
2. What mileage was it done and did you have it done pre or post engine problems ?
3. What were you told it entails? I have heard conflicting reports.
4. What is/was the cost. I was quoted $10k. Is this a reasonable figure.

Thanks.

My father did it to his truck and I just got done doing it to my Van. His had about 190k miles and mine had 160k. Both were done pre issues as preventative measures. These 6.0's are great motors, when done as good and reliable as the 7.3, if not more so. No question the cost to do so isn't cheap. Both rigs the cylinder walls looked like new with perfect cross hatches . It was for piece of mind for me to do it.
We did body off, head gaskets, arp head studs, egr delete , oil cooler and updated oil screen and a few other little things while in there.

LOL, I bulletproofed both pre- and post-engine problems.

There's a few threads on this already. Hit the search for what folks with vans have done. ARP headstuds would be the icing on the cake if you can afford to pull the motor and 10K sounds about right.

Your homework should start here: Write Up: Bullet-Proofing the 6.0L PSD. - Ford Powerstroke Diesel Forum
