JR's original question was Synthetic or Non-Synthetic ?

So as I revive this thread... we are looking for Diesel drivers that have the Amsoil dual filter system....

Are you using Synthetic or Non-Synthetic? ...and why?

Maybe I am asking the question incorrectly....

Synthetic or Blend ?

Blend is not all synthetic.....

Amsoil Oil

Charie56 ,
This is a new product for me and is what came with the SportsMobile dual filtration system . They provided me an instruction sheet at the time of our delivery and that was they specified . I have since changed My oil for the first time and yes that is what Jim had recommended as well as Peter at SportsMobile . I took a quick photograph that is in my Album for you .

UPDATE

I got ahold of Jim yesterday. I am impressed, he really seems to know his stuff and sounds like a good resource.

I am a preferred customer now and should have a couple of cases of oil at the house by Wednesday.

It sounds like Jim was just busy. He services a bunch of SMB owners.

More later.

Greg,

Can you post what Jim's recommendations were for the oil and filter change-out intervals? Not that it'll necessarily be "right," but one more data point in the extremely wide range of oil change intervals for AMSOIL systems....

Jim says :

For Amsoil Dual Filter Diesels

The first oil change should come between 6000 and 9000 miles; he was pretty strong that you don't want to go beyond 9000.
That first oil change is everything. All oil and both filters.
He said the oil should be cold (NOT hot or even warm).
He said let it drain overnight.

After that, it is only the two filters needing to be changed, and the oil topped off, every 15k miles or one year.

He said that if the vehicle is sitting a lot, that condensation can become a problem, and that there is only so much water that the filters can handle.

He strongly suggested getting the oil analysis done each change and he sounds like he would be happy to help interpret any abnormal results.

He recommends full synthetic and said not to even think about the synthetic blends.
