BTW would an Eaton E- locker nip this problem ???
Unless you actually turn a lot, the lube won't get into the plates where it is needed. Driving thousands of miles on open highways may not get the plates properly lubricated. It isn't miles, it is feet while the LSD is slipping.

Re: Rear end noise !

So I'm STILL having this problem- and it's getting worse - to the point I don't trust it to drive it any farther than the local grocery store. I'm thinking of just starting over and installing an electric locker, I'm told this will replace the suspected bad clutches. I wanted to go with a locker of some sort anyway in the future as I plan to do a U-joint 4x4 conversion- just wanted to wait til after that ,but looks like I need to do it now. Anyone recommend a locker that would work in this situation ???

Re: Rear end noise !

I did a little research on this a few years back for our rig but never ended up changing things out as the stock limited slip is working fine, but will prob go with this if I need to replace it. Unless you are wanting/needing full locker front/rear, which is a little overkill for us, adding an eaton Detroit truetrac in the rear is a good way to go, this works best for seamless daily driving without putting added stress on the driveline, you can always add a locker in the front if you need/want to...
Talk to Chris about it....

Re: Rear end noise !

I had a similar noise years ago, added the lucus additive and it stopped. Have you gotten on some dirt checked your limited slip?

Re: Rear end noise !

I'm using the Ford limited slip additive. My axle builder said "add it drive it, if it makes noise, add more".

I think I have 4 or 5 bottles in mine, but I have a high capacity cover and have more gear oil.

This is a pretty common thing, don't overthink it. Just add more additive.
