Do-hickies (holderoners) for inside panels

Some of my inside panels (like the ones on the back doors) have put stress on the do-hickie that is attached to the panel. Others I have taken the panel off too many times and basically stripped them. The do-hickie is round and has concentric rings and goes into a hole in the frame.
(hole) O <o<o<o<o< (do-hickie)

Since the do-hickie is fixed to the panel I need a way to make it hold again after I press it in the hole. Anyone had to do this?

Those are (should be) standard auto part store parts for door panels, you should be able to replace easily.

Yes, but the end attached to the panel is semi-permanent - under the vinyl, etc. I was looking for an easy way so I don't have to pull the entire panel and the covering as it is more like upholstery.

Ah, I was thinking of the kind that have a clip on the end. They slide on the edge of the backing material, or rather the edge of holes in the backing material. The clip part often breaks when removing.

I'm pretty sure the plastic tree version is available, but this is what I'm talking about in metal:
