Spare tire carrier for 94 SMB Dodge Ram

The spare tire carrier on our rig has rusted to the point of no return. It mounts with 2 bolts through brackets on the hinges, and another to a clip on the lower left side of the rear door. I tried a number of welding shops but short of making me a custom job, no one can help. Is there a source for these carriers? If not, are there universal carriers that can do the same job? I've tried searching extensively on the net, but can't seem to find anything. Thanks for the help.

Harvey

We got ours for our Ford at a U Pull It junk yard. You may find one there.

Surco makes them. Available from Discount Van Truck (.com) but they're shipping is horribly slow. You could try JC Whitney too for a universal type.

Re: Spare tire carrier for 94 SMB Dodge Ram

Thanks for the tip. Found a website (Racks for All) which gave me great info. It appears that Surco makes one to fit, although the hole in the door probably won't line up. But I can probably rig something up. Interestingly, I found the item on Amazon for a lot less than other sources, so if it doesn't fit I can return it with minimal hassle and go from there. Appreciate all the help. This forum has been a lifesaver when confronted with vexing problems.
