Mine ARE the open-end front ones, and they ARE black. I have a Dynatrac rear axle, hence no covers at all which I like as I can monitor for oil seeps.

I have Mojaves and just took off those trim cylinders. If you can wait until about the beginning of September, I'll send them to you.. I'm at my cabin in British Columbia, and won't be home...
