I agree with you, they can leak down. This has metal to metal stops that can't be released without lifting again first. I can tell you these vans are heavy and need extra attention to safety.

We used a pneumatic bumper jack, with mechanical safety stops, to lift the van. The floor jack under the axle was only to position the axle and raise the axle up and down to cycle it - it was not...

Steering stabilizer can help mask DW problems, but there is something else causing them - worn components, tires...

Is it a QuadVan also?

A steering stabilizer should not really improve anything except the steering. On a vehicle with steering component problems it can help to mask the problems but is not really a fix.

We modify the jack for use in the pits in desert racing - easier to move around in the sand and taller to help lift the higher ground clearance vehicles.

The original springs were Ford, they had a Free Length of 16 inches and a Spring Rate of 575 lbs. The replacement springs were Moog CC880S with a Free Length of 16.60 inches and Spring Rate of 652...
