I'm not sure about the ins and outs of weight as far as the DOT goes. The DOT isn't going to come to court to testify about the regs.

A company cannot arbitrarily increase the GVWR over what the manufacture rates a vehicle. UNLESS they spend the money for crash testing at that higher value. Even if you put in 10K lb. axles, the...

The Dana 60 axle is used in many vehicles, including the F550 Ford trucks. It is the springs that change the load rates.
