Don't forget about serviceability. Most Ford dealers are familiar 4x4s, and some converters like QuadVan use all Ford moving parts. Take other vans in for service, and they'll be much more lost,...

Check with Van Specialties. They don't seem to mind one-off projects and upgrades. Opening up a wall seems pretty trivial in the van conversion world.
