For A/C while parked at stops, I think a built-in would the way to go. Lugging one out of storage would get tiring after a while.

Semi-built in would work too though... like a vented bumper box or...

A built-in generator is nice if you want to use it while driving. It will also save on setup and refueling duties.

A portable inverter generator will still be quieter, and probably use less fuel,...
