Re: My solar installation project...

Tried it all out for the first time this weekend, obviously. The remote meter records the minimum and maximum amps, among other things. At some point this weekend the two panels put out 11.9 amps....

Re: My solar installation project...

Thankfully, Renogy has the same warranty on their rigid and flexible panels - five years. Definitely a good fit for us. No regrets here :l1:

Re: My solar installation project...

They are actually far more rugged (or should I say rigid?) than I thought they would be. I was expecting something more flimsy. I don't have anything to back it up, but I have read that they are...

Re: My solar installation project...

Yep, they came with the van. I can't seem to find anything like them online. I wonder if SMB bought them or made them?

I'm happy to say that this project is finished. No water leaks. Got the...

Re: My solar installation project...

I'm running on 1997-era SMB tech. Two battery tubs wired in parallel. I'd love to re-wire the entire system. My brain can't quite handle that right now though. I've got enough on my plate just...

Re: My solar installation project...

Yeah, I'm excited about this. I won't know how many amps until I get my remote meter installed, but I should easily pull 8-10 amps, if not more. :b5:

Look what you started! I randomly looked down at my odometer on the way home from where I installed the panels today, and saw this! :n3:

Re: My solar installation project...

Got the panels mounted today and the wires run inside the van. Feels weird drilling big holes in a perfectly good roof. I'll get started on the wiring tomorrow.

Once I got these mounted and wired...

Re: My solar installation project...

Not really close. There's one in Oakland and another 45 miles South. I'm gonna head back to West Marine and see what they have. They've got to have something suitable for this.

Got the Ancor thing...

Re: My solar installation project...

Oh, just a heads up. Renogy says these panels are 41.3" x 21.3". That's not really accurate. The two panels I got are different sizes so I've had to make slight adjustments for that. One panel is...

Re: My solar installation project...

Thanks guys. The other pair I bought came pre-assembled, but since I'll be returning them, I didn't want to open them up to see how they were set up. I'm familiar with bulkheads from my saltwater...

Re: My solar installation project...

Thanks Jeff. Not finding much in stock at my local HD or Lowes. Got a hold of Robb and he said he might have some so I'll swing by there tomorrow and see. If not, I've got a local truck accessory...

Exactly. That's what a good friend would do. I see how it is now.

Re: My solar installation project...

Yep, each panel has six grommets. Should be pretty solid with those and velcro all the way around.

Got it all mocked up and traced out. Now I just wait for the big brown truck to arrive tomorrow....
