Re: The Zombie Van Build (feat. REDOVAL)

JWA,

I use an application on my phone called PhotoGrid that facilitates those layups. I try to set them up so the project progresses from top to bottom. I think my version allows up to 15 photos....

Battery rack for the dual Alcatel batteries is coming along nicely. Hoping to have these in and wired in the next couple of days.

Re: The Zombie Van Build (feat. REDOVAL)

We finally pulled the trigger on one of Sam's boxes for the rear area of the ZV. The install was supervised by my son and all went well. The fit and finish was great and the added room and storage...

Re: The Zombie Van Build (feat. REDOVAL)

Would it be possible to enlarge the hole enough to make a brass bushing for the bolt to go thru?
That would last much longer and keep the bracket nice enough to just have to replace the bushing only...

Re: The Zombie Van Build (feat. REDOVAL)

Got the seat bases installed from the group buy manager by 1der. These things have an excellent fit and finish and work awesome. For those with the floor mounted transfer case shifter, it needs a...

Re: The Zombie Van Build (feat. REDOVAL)

This is high on my list. Could you please confirm that I need to look for F150 mirrors, and perhaps explain in a little more detail the mods needed to install them? Thanks.[/quote]

Maybe that was a feature Ford added to reduce wind resistance at speed......haha. I had a toyota that would do the same thing on the freeway.

Re: The Zombie Van Build (feat. REDOVAL)

The mirrors take a bit of customizing to fit on the older 3-bolt doors, but I did this mod on my van as well and they are definitely worth the effort.

Re: The Zombie Van Build (feat. REDOVAL)

We had a bunch of the SMB guys meet up at my house over the weekend and had the chance to see the different variations of the Aluminess products. In the case of Nobbie's van, we went with the simple...

Re: The Zombie Van Build (feat. REDOVAL)

The aluminess tire carrier left a lot to be desired after we got it installed. The upper mount location and design was not well thought out and allowed the carrier to move around even when the...

Re: The Zombie Van Build (feat. REDOVAL)

Arctic,
The tank itself is fine, but all the supporting items (pickup/filter, hoses, pollack valve, switch, etc) were all beyond repair due to neglect in the van's previous life. The van gets...

Re: The Zombie Van Build (feat. REDOVAL)

We got the Fiamma F45S awning installed using 1der's mounts. The mounts allowed for a clean and stable installation with clearance to the CCV top once it was modified. I am quite impressed with...

Re: The Zombie Van Build (feat. REDOVAL)

Here is another one mostly covered by Nobbie, but we ditched the useless rear tank and swapped out the damaged bumper for a replacement step version. The tank is available for purchase for those who...

Re: The Zombie Van Build (feat. REDOVAL)

Nobbie posted this a while ago, but here is a collection of snaps when we had the wheels installed. They make a huge difference in the overall look of the ZV.

Rodel,
I'm sure Nobbie will want to enjoy his van sometime! Maybe if we ask nicely he will let us get some work in on yours as well! We need to get your mirrors installed!

Re: The Zombie Van Build (feat. REDOVAL)

The kids will have to earn this one! More camping trips might get them a shoe-in on the short list though!

Wrapped up with some new Fast Bright 55w ballasts, horn (didn't have one when acquired), and led dome light bulbs to reduce current draw when camping.

Re: The Zombie Van Build (feat. REDOVAL)

The van worked great for Nobbie's previous trip, but there were some odd handling characteristics. Surely the new steering damper replacing the leaking old one won't hurt!

Yep, I'm curious too. What are those second row seats from? Are the belts completely integrated in to the seats?

The seats came with the van from the previous owner and were...
