I have one on my 7.3 Excursion. MUCH easier oil changes. Previously they had a valve-only version, and one with a nipple (N series) to use with 3/8" ID tubing which made for no-splatter oil changes....

The probe is mounted in the same place, right? If so, yeah, that is a huge difference.

Also very sorry to hear about that.

Please be sure to give us any sort of postmortem if you get any info. Sounds like a stuck wide-open injector.

Different animal, but I had similar symptoms on our '05 VW Passat diesel. I just attributed it to age of the engine, but in retrospect I think it was the beginning-of-the-end of the EGR cooler....
