They're available in gas and diesel. I found this particular one while cleaning out my old garage, it was mounted in an Explorer I owned years ago. But you can buy them everywhere over here from different companies. It's more or less the same unit Mercedes, along with many other manufacturers, put into their diesel cars and vans to get them up to operating temps in the winter. Adding a different ECU to the heater and you can use them to heat up the car without the need to start the engine. That's what they're invented for anyway.
It's more efficient than letting the engine idle for long periods, which is illegal here anyways.
