And I'm about to do it again! Yes, I hate to admit it but I'm serious. I'm going with lincoin or something other than black carpet. It was a big mistake and I hate it. We have a dog these days who's fur is about half white. What kind of planning was that?
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it is a big job and the carpet is under everything on an SMB but still I recommend just pulling everything and doing it right. I'm holding off til winter on mine. I'll document it of course. It's going to suck and be expensive and time consuming but I will NEVER carpet a camper van again!!!! LESSON LEARNED!!!!!!
Pulling everything out and redoing the floor will give you an opportunity to insulate better and redo any plumbing, electric or layout issues you aren't totally happy with. In the end it will be worth it. It's not hard to find any of the plumbing components to match SMB's stuff so you can patch back up what you have to remove pretty easily.
