2002 Express 2wd 3500 15 passenger van
Fully insulated and converted using 1980 VW Westfalia parts
Custom aluminum rear rack
Westy stove /sink /front & rear AC /Heat
300 W inverter /100W solar /50L water
5.7L V8 Gas power
a reliable westy with heat /A/C that tows our boat !!
Wrae Hill
Our "What-the-'falia" continues it's transformation into a heavy duty Westy camper capable of towing our boat/ heat/ air conditioning/ room ....all the things an anemic/expensive German Westfalia cannot do . This is the result of an unholy matrimony of 1980 Westfalia parts and a 2002 Chev 3500 1 ton 15 passenger van.
The hard work of insulating / designing /modifying / installing a 3/4"birch plywood interior is almost complete. Interior features large Fir cross members , Solid cherry counter top (1 x 16 x 60") and Paduk trim
Projects the next month to get it camper ready:
Install new carpet / repaired seats /swivels up front
Cabin wiring of aux. battery
Install newly constructed beds / rear seats /upper bunk /new headliner
Source /install water tank system
Install propane tank system

That's so cool! I started out wanting a Westy, but since I tow a boat it was a no go. (Of course then I discovered SMB's, but still, that's neat ) It will be fun to watch your progress.
Nice piece of work. I always liked the Westys and the little roof top storage space at the front.
