Re: Chevy Express Project (Europe, Switzerland)

Hi Jage!
That is exactly what I did drilled trough the lot and tapped a thread trough the bars, popped a bolt trough and there you go...

I did a short test drive last night and all is fine, the awning doesn't rattle or make any noise, the roof bars however tend to howl above 50 MPH... Do your rigs make any noise when driving?

As far as the sink is concerned for the moment it un hooks and I slide it into the under-bench sections... the bowl will eventually stow on the LH rear door. I first need to devise a bracket.

As from the beginning of the project everything has to be removable without any modification on the van directly... this is why the whole setup may seem slightly unusual

One of the next challenges will be water stowage... I currently have two 20l water tanks one for fresh one for waste...

I thought it was because you're European, but O.K.

Re: Chevy Express Project (Europe, Switzerland)

Ok jobs done last weekend:

Lowered the rear bench seats by 10cm as suggested by experts
And also fitted a "Persian2 rug in the "dinette" area so the lino stays ok and it is warm on the feet

Re: Chevy Express Project (Europe, Switzerland)

OK as you all know over the pond here we are penthouse-less and in the mean time we find a solution (AndrewST keep me posted ) I have opted for another solution which I have already mentioned in another post: the OZTENT:

Of course we have planned a test weekend this weekend with extra photos and details...

In the mean time and have a good Friday

Re: Chevy Express Project (Europe, Switzerland)

OK I have decided I am not satisfied with the current setup...

I have inspired myself of the RB 42 layout but with the gaucho on the drivers side...

I will start work soon with the floor as currently it is oem carpet with bed fitting over it... as kids never seem to have clean feet I think to invest in a cleanable floor from cab back is a good idea...

Do you have any advice over the RB 42 layout? What are your thoughts about the gaucho bed...?

Cheers for any comments...

And hi from Switzerland

I like it. You should start a new thread about doing a homemade RB 42 so it's not buried in this one.

BTW, I'm going to copy your sink someday when I have a place to work on mine- I realized it would be a great addition to have at the back where my shower is.

Re: Chevy Express Project (Europe, Switzerland)

Jage

Thanx for your encouragement... Outdoor experience seems to have pushed my little DIY setup to its limit... As always we want one up

I will of course open a new thread when I get started on the job. I will be doing some maintenance on the van before I start and before winter comes as I don't really want to be groveling under the chassis in sub zero temperatures

Hey wow never thought my sink idea would catch on I have planned on my RB 42 style project to actually fit the panel the sink fits into on the rear door and have it fold up.

Just one small question if I open a thread can I use some SMBs DYO plans to show what I will be attempting?
