Finally!!! After almost 5 months of living in camp, much of the time alone, I finally got to the start of my vacation. I left camp on Sat, drove two hours to the ferry in Hollis, got off in Ketchikan, got on a plane and made it to Washington on Sunday. I spent Monday looking over my van which has been sitting for nearly a year, and on Tuesday took it for a shakedown trip prior to driving back to Alaska. It started right up, ran fine, everything worked as it had before, and I'm really stoked to finally be back in the drivers seat. We drove up to the mountains where we stopped at The North Cascades Vintage aircraft museum which has about 25 fully restored planes from the 30s to the 50s
North Cascades Vintage Aircraft Museum - It was an amazing place, every plane there had been restored to museum quality with paint jobs better than many high end sports cars Ive seen. Almost every plane was flyable, and used on a rotating basis. After that, we found a spot by the river for a picnic lunch. It was the most fun I've had in recent memory. Oh yea, it's my birthday today too, best one yet. Next up, new toys for the trip North. A set of tow mirrors, a Door Tallon, more LED back up lights, and some additional upgrades coming up next week. Man, it's been a long time coming...........
