Re: New Toy
If anyone wants or needs to kill some more time staring at a computer monitor you can head over to AdvRider.com and check out the build thread on my new toy. I've been busy getting her ready to hit the road for 4 weeks in October.
A big thanks to Ramsey for helping me figure out which after market LED light systems are the best. With any luck I may even be able to head back to Baja and meet up with Ramsey and Jan in October.

I was going to part it out but a guy I know talked me out of it. He says he can e-bay it for me. I'm going to let him do it. He does a lot of e-bay stuff and knows a lot about BMW bikes. He also says it's going to be easy to sell and I'll be surprised how much it will bring. Non ABS models like mine are a bit rare and sell at a premium.

Re: New Toy
What have I done? Sure hope I can remember how this puzzle of plastic and fuel tank tubing goes back together.
I had to strip her down to run wires for a few accessories.

Re: New Toy
It's Amazing how many of us also have Bikes. I have a couple of Dual Sports (currently have 3 ATK's and a KTM 950SE) and use my van to base camp out of.

As well as my BMW f800gs I own I also have a Yamaha WR250R that I have made dual sport with a ton of mods to make it a long distance rig. Longest ride I went on with the Yamaha was 9 days and almost 3500 miles all self supported and in the backcountry. I love my Yamaha too though not as much punch on the throttle as the BMW but half the weight.
Here is the van with my Yamaha loaded up.....

I'm not all that amazed. I think it's a function of all of us sharing the same adventure gene in our genetic code. We surround ourselves with similar items so we can get out there a little farther to enjoy the outdoors. I'd be willing to bet that most of the people on this list went on camping trips with their parents. It's a genetic thing. I know I've passed it on to my son. Looking at the joy on his face after running a class V or while out riding a motorcycle or just hanging out around a campfire confirms the genetic thing in my mind.
