What's the issue with towing? Could it be solved with a gear ratio change?

That might work. With a 7500# trailer and a bunch of gear in the van, it's more than we feel comfortable with on the long inclines (up and down). A lighter trailer would be no problem at all.

We've bought a new F250 diesel that hardly knows the trailer is back there.

I'm not sure… I like your rig a lot. Every area pulls a different price. IMHO it seems like CA pulls higher prices. I did buy my 2004 6.0L rig basically how it's listed in my SMB registry, (with no issues) for $18,000.00. But I had to travel to buy it, because folks in Colorado also ask high prices. Which I wasn't willing to pay… especially after looking for a year I felt like I knew what was a good buy. If I was in the market now for a rig I'd pass because of the price and wait for something else, but that's just me. It all depends on what's out there right now, It wouldn't be the rig for me but that doesn't mean that it not the right rig price for another buyer. Good luck with the sale, the right buyer will come around. Especially since it's the time of year that people are thinking about buy camping rigs...
