"Holy Grail" Help, how much ?
So, I may have an opportunity for the "Holy Grail" 7.3L with 100K and SMB 4x4 conversion. EB50 floor plan with a bit of wear and tear, bumpers front and rear, propane but no cooktop & full service records.
What do y'all think would be the right price?
thanks

Re: "Holy Grail" Help, how much ?
There was one recently on CL that came with a SMB trailer and it was listed for $56k. It must have sold because the ad was deleted. It was that desert sand color too.

Check out the one listed right here in this forum by debmaz as a comp.
It's a loaded 7.3, higher miles, but geez, compared to the one mentioned above for $56, this one is a deal.

Just a head's up. It is only the "holy grail" if you are willing to learn about your engine and do the maintenance and preventative mods yourself. Which can be quite interesting and satisfying. Otherwise it WILL be a money pit.

Whatever they'll sell if for? 40K? What are you willing to spend to not have the 6.0L?

I don't actually think that's a good comp, it's a 2000 with Quigley 4x4 and double the miles, the bumpers aren't Aluminess, I'd call the interior the opposite of wear and tear, and it's not an EB50...

Re: "Holy Grail" Help, how much ?
Not sure how much the asking price is on the one you're looking at, but here's another one. Not sure if it's the 7.3, but a damn good price for 55k miles.

Here's the VIN Decoder:

That is a good looking van. It is a V10.

Re: "Holy Grail" Help, how much ?
Just like Jage said, it all depends how bad you want the 7.3 and don't want the other options.
But, with any 7.3 approaching or around 100k miles make sure you have $5k in savings for the Transmission set aside. And as great as diesels are, I love mine, they are pricey to fix.

Re: "Holy Grail" Help, how much ?
My concern with a 2003 SMB conversion is that it will be an extremely early effort for them. How well were they done? How many bugs were there? My '06 had upper spring plate failures, what issues did the earlier models have?

Re: "Holy Grail" Help, how much ?
Thanks everybody for the input, some of my concerns have been echoed in the replies. I did experience some problems with shifting the atlas transfer case, don't know if it's because it has been rarely put into 4wd or what?
Milkracer, it is the one that was listed in Newport that included the trailer, the prior buyer fell through.
